India Center Initiative

With funding from the State Legislature, the University of Minnesota is exploring the creation of a center focusing on India and its geographical neighbors.

The India Center is envisioned as a builder of bridges between the University and Minnesota and various academic, intellectual, cultural, and business interests in South Asia.

As part of its exploratory phase, the India Center Initiative is supporting exchanges and collaborations with educational, cultural, and business partners throughout South Asia.

A center would tie together existing programs at the University that have been promoting connections to India.

The three main goals of an India Center would be:

  • Foster an understanding of the history, culture, and values of India;

  • Promote economic, governmental, and academic pursuits in India; and

  • Facilitate collaborative exchanges and partnerships in research, education, and business.
